Yes...I encourage even building based churches to take one month and plan in advance to GIVE AWAY every offering that comes in that month to poor/desparate/hurting/hungry persons and give it THROUGH THE HANDS OF THE MEMBERS....let them deliver it personally......I believe it would transform the community, church, and church staff....I think they would do it again and again!

Also. I think there would be an amzing offering that month!!!!!

I quite agree with you. Lately the Lord has been giving me this understanding about what He is after when He instructs us to pray the Lord's Prayer and ask for His Kingdom to come and His Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. What you are saying there: "... I was just thinking yesterday that it might be better to give to those that God has seemed to put in our life rather than to send it off....". seems to me to be doing exactly what He wants to do to fulfill that part of the Lord's Prayer! Also, in light of that, I come to ponder the same thing with these Words from Acts 20:

Act 20:32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Act 20:33 I coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel.
Act 20:34 You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me.
Act 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

Now just imagine all the Church doing that in every place, every town, city, county, state and nation of the world. I think the world would come to realize the Kingdom has now come and the Will of God is presently being demonstrated to them on earth as the Kingdom and His Will are done back home in Glory Land!

A timely read. God is working in my spirit. I am restless and poised to follow Him into a new dimension of Spirit led service/ministry. Prayer is the key. The person of peace and the God arranged encounter concept is an eye-opener. I do not consider it mere coincidence that I have been reading Acts with a view to understanding how the first century churches were formed and how they lived for Christ in their world, and, now, reading about the Green Church. My heart is tender to His voice.

I'm very much hearing same things after 35+ years. I was just thinking yesterday that it might be better to give to those that God has seemed to put in our life rather than to send it off. I'm not opposed to giving to needs by mail but, what a coincidence to be on your site this morning and you are doing just that.

Dear It is also blessing to hear what the lord is doing in your life over there and with a number of brothers and sisters. its our prayer that one of these days father may bring us together face to face in a place where we can have fellowship in a better way. Not only I and you but you with my other beloved friends here and I with your other beloved friends there.

I feel that the most profound words that will ever be spoken to us, aside from the written Word, is that which occurs when we still ourselves before the Lord, in temporary isolation, and in replete silence.

Over the years, the one topic about which I have written and spoken, is that of the daily discipline of entering-into quiet-time with the Lord--that we might hear His voice for ourselves.

An analogy which the Lord spoke to me long ago, is that found in Mathew 18:3, wherein Jesus says that if we do not become as a "little child" we will not see the kingdom. One day long ago I was meditating upon that one verse, when the Lord spoke this to me:

"David, one of the greatest places of peace for a child is that while sitting on its father's lap, nestled close to his chest, resting in complete peace and safety, and while hearing his heartbeat. And unless you become as a little child, by sitting upon My lap in your quiet-times, and allowing Me to still your soul, speak peace to your mind; and allowing Me to speak affirmation to your soul like no man can, you will 'not see the Kingdom' made manifest in your life and in your ministry, now."

The greatest ministry in which we will ever engage in this lifetime, will be that which occurs as we minister to our Father, by sitting in stillness and silence before Him, like a child sitting on the lap of his earthly father. All other ministry is but an overflow of that ministry, and is secondary at best.

I pray a blanket of peace over you today, as you continue to instill this greatest of ministries, to those whom you are presently pouring-into and as you rest in him. May the lord open a way for us to come together one of these days.

Desire, sorry our translation is not the best.
We've used an auto-translator for the languages others have not donated a translation for.
We'd love to have a better "real" translation if you have a chance. Please see the info above on the sections we're looking to translate.

For the French pdf above, it's surely not a translation, because it's barely understandable (actually not at all!). It's just an English text chopped through an automatic English/French machine.
May be I could take some time to translate it in real French.

I've been exploring this site & reading more & feeling as spirit filled as I know how to feel after reading several of the articles. This Church & group of people have forever changed my life. I will NEVER be the same again. My Prayer is that more people are able to experience first hand that there is NOTHING in life that can EVER give you the feeling you get from helping others & being a part os something so wonderful & so real.

Lindsay, this is a challenging proposal.

From the very first, our 6 year old simple church has given at least 50% of our offerings for helping people locally and internationally. This includes benevolence, church planting, missions etc. Now we are up to 70% and this does not include special gifts for specific needs and offerings. This is now part of our DNA. We have moved people from Texas to Minnesota (and back); paid rent, made car payments; filled pantrys; repaired autos; repaired AC/Heating; paid doctor and hospital bills... The examples are too many to list here. We actually planted as church in an apartment complex through the loving action of paying someone's rent. The children take an offering every week and choose when and how to use it for others. They have bought blankets for children in China and tents for orphanages. They recently chose to purchase new eye glasses for a kindergarten friend.

I think a first step could be having a "let's give it all away" Sunday. Tell the people what you are going to do. Take the offering. Give it away. Share the stories. Listen to the Spirit.

Follow up Questions:
1. What would this "Give Everything Away" kind of church-life do to "attendance" levels at Sunday worship? Would it increase or decrease?
2. What would it do to the "offering" totals? Increase or decrease persons giving?
3. If an "open mic" was provived just before the sermon time for perons to come up and share how they had given someone a hand-up with their $100 church check, How long would that open-mic time last during the worship time?
Would some share tears, joy, laughter, prayers, or praise during their report? (it might start sounding like worship)!
4. What would be the "spiritual fruit" Giving Everything Away? Would it bring refreshment? Revival? Spiritual Awakening? Reformation!!

greenchurch has gone to Christ-followers in about 35 nations now....but people from those nations now live all over the world.

Sharpened translations of the 3 basic articles in greenchurch (Chapters 6,7,8) are needed in each of those languages in order to encourage persons across the world to plant such churches among their overlooked groups of friends.
............................................................Does God's Spirit impress you to translate one of these articles for "your" people?

Yesterday we gave $350 to a young couple going through unemployment, sent $70 with a guy to buy rice for Bhutanese refugees in a nearby city, heard a report from Saturday on delivery of furniture/clothes/blankets/food to Congolese refugees in our city, gave a box of food to a person needing a boost, and sent $30 to a missions organization...then we continued with our Sunday church gathering...yeah, it took kind of a big group at church to get that much done during our one hour worship gathering, 16 were present.

A Christ-follower in Myanmar recently sent a translation of part of greenchurch in the Burmese language....it should be posted soon under the
"your translation+the nations" tab........maybe you are God's tool to translate Chapter 6, 7, or 8 for your nation/language group....how does His spirit finger your heart about this? Note the simple process under that sam tab...............thanks!

Recipe for a More Abundant Life

First, you must have faith in God that He will provide all your needs.

My life & outlook on it has forever been changed by Lyndsay & his family. This man is the REAL DEAL. I admire & respect him as my Pastor & as a man.
Because of him my relationship with my God is the best it's ever been. When you see first hand what God can & will do when people are doing their part from the heart not for show it is nothing short of amazing. I wish EVERYONE could have experienced what I have been blessed to be a part of by being invovled. I will NEVER forget my BEST Christmas EVER! There was a family in need & my daughter & I were going to buy them a Christmas tree. They had many needs & had lost everything in a fire & had small children. My daughter was concerned that the children would have a Christmas tree. First we stopped at a live Christmas tree lot & the person there would not let us pay for the tree. Then it was on to Walmart to get some lights for the tree among other things. It hard to explain to a child that they had many needs & we were getting other things they needed as well. We had already gotten lights for the tree & my daughter was pointing at a $20.00 lighted tree top Angel & asking if we could get it. An elderly lady over heard our conversation & with tears in her eyes handed me a $20.00 bill & said get that Angel for those children. I still get chills when I think about it. That's ONLY one example of God at work through this wonderful loving & caring group of people. It took me a long time to truly understand that Church is what & where YOU want it to be.
